Irish Inspiration

I am back from Ireland – packed with impressions and inspiration. It was only one week, much too short to really learn to know this wonderful country, but I fell in love with the beautiful diversity of landscapes, light, culture and people. Although the weather was “typical Irish” I was really impressed by the colors, especially the greens (50 shades of green). Ireland will probably have a huge impact on my painting in the next weeks. I had a few days off from work left and did start to paint my memories, that I´d like to show here today. I started with a pretty much abstract approach of landscape painting and this might be my main theme during the next weeks. At the bottom of this post you find a 20 minutes video collecting some of my impressions from the journey through the green island.

Ich bin zurück aus Irland – vollgepackt mit Impressionen und Inspiration. Es war zwar nur eine Woche – viel zu kurz, um dieses wundervolle Land wirklich kennenzulernen – aber ich habe mich von Anfang an in die schöne Diversität von Landschaften, Licht, Kultur und den Menschen verliebt. Auch wenn das Wetter oft “typisch irisch” war, hat mich die Leuchtkraft der Farben, vorallem der unglaublich reichen Variationen von Grüntönen (50 Shades of Green) sehr beeindruckt. In den kommenden Wochen werden diese Eindrücke voraussichtlich einen großen Einfluss auf meine Malerei nehmen. Ich hatte noch ein paar Tage frei und habe schon angefangen, meine Erinnerungen an die Reise auf Papier zu bringen – und das möchte ich heute hier zeigen. Ich habe mit recht abstrakten Versuchen von Landschaftsmalerei begonnen, und das wird mich wohl die kommenden Wochen über am meisten beschäftigen.
