These two watercolors are inspired by my memory of the Yosemity National Park. It is so many years ago that I have been there but it is still an unforgettable memory. And always a good motive for a watercolor painting. The first painting is more experimental, the second became a little bit cheesy.

“The Rock 2” – 060_2020 Watercolor / Daler-Rowney Aquafine smooth/hot-press – ca. 42 cm x 29,7 cm / 16.5´ x 11.7´ in / Lukas Aquarell 1862- paints @LukasFarben #Lukasfarben #Lukasaquarell #Lukaswatercolors #brushparkwatercolors #carstenwieland #worldwatercolormonth #wielandfineart Watercolors and much more: https://www.wieland-fineart.com/shop/
I’m enjoying them both as different expressions rather than the 2nd being cheesy. The 1st has that sacred majesty of light hitting the face seen from within the “foyer” of the trees. The 2nd. The 2nd has this Autumnal Evening feel of fall right as the light says, “get the fire going and move into the evening with friends.” The orange splotches across the water tree to tree just make for some enigmatic interest with that orange pairing so well with its (brown-maker) blue, and also that maybe there’s a wicked huge spider web over the rover and some Fall leaves are hanging out stuck in it.
Beautiful paintings! I was just in Yosemite two weeks ago (and posted about it as well). The park was empty — a very unusual and very enjoyable way to experience it. Hope you get to return soon!
Yes, I want to go back to Yosemite one day, too! I’m a bit closer than YOU, but, I still would have to fly across the country! Nice work, Carsten, and thanks for the memories! 🙂
I thought this looked like El Captain before I even read your back story! Very nice work!

I intensely dig them both, Carsten.
