Cigar-box watercolors

Because of the preparations for our show (starting today) and a bad cold that came to destruct me 🙂 I thought I would have to cancel this little fun project, but Thursay Night I did feel better and painted these two watercolors on wood. I used a watercolor primer from Schmincke to make the small wooden boards compatible with watercolor painting. Although the painting does feel much different than on watercolor paper I found a way and it was really fun. I painted miniature versions of two different watercolors from not too long ago. I am thinking about using the watercolor primer for some larger watercolor-collage-mixed media works I have  in my mind for some time.

Zigarrenkästchen Aquarelle

Wegen der Vorbereitungen für unsere Ausstellung (die heute beginnt) und einer doofen Grippe, die kam, um mir das Leben ein wenig anstrengender zu machen, dachte ich schon, ich müsste dieses schöne Spaß-Projekt canceln. Aber Donnerstagnacht fühlte ich mich dann doch besser und malte diese beiden Aquarelle auf Holz. Ich habe den Aqua-Grund von Schmincke benutzt, um die Holzbrettchen kompatibel für Aquarellmalerei zu machen. Obwohl sich das Malen auf diesem Untergrund doch ganz anders anfühlt als auf Papier, fand ich schnell einen Zugang und habe zwei Miniatur-Versionen von früheren Aquarellen gemalt.
