When I moved to Hamburg in 1991 I found some old & abandoned shipyards in the port-area when I was exploring my new hometown. I was fascinated by the old rusty harbor cranes and the wrecked tugboats – although it was a bit creepy, too. I wish I woul dhave been painting or taking pictures back then. Nowadays these are all gone and replaced by endless container terminals… and I have to paint them from memory.

you have an extraordinary memory — what a beautiful painting

My memory is limited to pictures… I am pretty bad with numbers, words, names. Thanks so much, ….? 🙂

Love the dripping rust on the side of the boat…..for my eye, this dripping became the movement of the water, then the boat, and then it was almost like really standing there. This is wonderful.
