Late night experiment

Last week I was experimenting with creating textures washing out and lifting up colors with the brush. The watercolor itself is not so great but I like some of the textures that came up with repeating the procedure. The paper is Hahnemühle Anniversary Edition (it seems to be the same paper that is regulary sold under the name “Cornwall”)  and it works pretty good with this “technique”. I wish I would have planned the layout of the composition a little bit better – so it became just a practice sheet.

Letzte Woche habe ich ein wenig mit Texturen herum experimentiert, die durch Auswaschen und Farbe mit dem Pinsel abheben entstehen. Das Aquarell an sich ist nicht so toll, aber ich mag einige der Texturen, die bei den Wiederholungen dieser Prozedur entstanden sind. Das Papier ist Hahnemühle Anniversary Edition (es scheint mir das gleiche Papier zu sein, das sonst unter dem Namen “Cornwall” angeboten wird) und es ist für diese “Technik” sehr gut geeignet. Ich wünschte, ich hätte mir vorher ein bisschen mehr Gedanken über den Bildaufbau gemacht – so ist es nur ein Übungsblatt geworden.
