Mondays seem to be my favorite watercolor days. It is probably just because I feel relaxed from the weekend and my my work is starting late at night. So I got the whole day just for myself and painting. I did paint and finish these three Monday & Tuesday and they were fun. I am a little bit disappointed about the Fabriano watercolor blocks I bought. The paper is great as usual, but the gluing is bad. Not really suitable for wet painting techniques, because the sheets get loose as soon you put a drip of water on the paper.

Dear Carsten,
i can’t wait to see what comes out of your upcoming long vacation. You are so ready, ready, ready.
i love the light on the water in this one although there is one you did earlier all green and gold-(i shall have to look it up)-which i like even better. And the waterfall you just painted is the best!
Thought: try running artist’s tape all around your blocks when they are dry and see if that helps.
I wonder what you’ll choose to paint over vacation? It will be so good thinking of you with time to sleep and play and paint!

Thanks so much, Holly! Only two more nights to work (one and a half to be precise) – and yes: I am ready foro vacation. There won´t be too much new stuff from me during these weeks. I am starting to work on the pieces for my first exhibition in summer. I will choose my favourite motifs and paint new versions of them – trying to put everything in I learned during the last weeks. Beside this I hope for opportunities for plein-air painting during the upcoming four weeks.
About the blocks and using tape: Yes, I thought of using tape, too – but the reason why I bought the blocks was that I would have liked to be able to paint without this kind of preparation. If I would have known before I could have bought single sheets. The Fabriano paper is pretty expensive and it is just a little bit disappointing that the quality of the gluing is so poor.

Thanks so much for the wishes, Holly! I guess I am not so much a party animal anymore – but I am going to enjoy the time. 🙂

These are stunning! Wow, what a marvelous thing some rest is. They are so incredibly beautiful — all three of them — so complex and lovely. Just WOW.

Beautiful work as usual! Maybe I am seeing things, but I think you have recently introduced a new colour to your palette which I love. The turquoise just lifts everything so beautifully! Love it!

Thanks so much. I am very careful with adding new colors to my palette, but sometimes it just happens by accident and then I keep on going with it. 🙂
