Down to the river to pray

Down to the river to pray

As I went down in the river to pray

Studying about that good old way

And who shall wear the starry crown

Good Lord, show me the way

Although I planned a day off from watercolors for Monday I could not let my fingers from the brushes. I was flipping through a sketchbook from last year and found a picture of a river in the evening sunlight while I was listening to a live concert of Alison Kraus & Union Station. And at the end of this AKUS concert they sing this beautiful interpretation of “Down to the river to pray”. It was like an encouraging sign to paint this and the complete full-sheet was done in about 2 wonderful hours while another AKUS concert was playing on my computer. A great start into a new week.

Down tot he river to pray“.
